Q: How Does the Power Miser™ Unit Work?

A: Power Miser™ reduces the amount of power drawn from your utility by storing (in its capacitors) otherwise lost electricity (watts) caused by the inductive motors in your home or business. Some examples of inductive motors are air conditioning units, refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, dishwashers, pool pumps, vacuum cleaners, furnace blower motors, fans, and so on. The technology behind the Power Miser™ unit supplies that stored electricity back to your inductive loads, thus causing you to decrease your demand from the utility. If you decrease your demand from the utility, your meter slows down, you use less electricity, and the result is you save on your utility bill. The bottom line is, you've already paid for that electricity, so why pay for it and waste it? With the Power Miser™ unit, you can pay for your electricity, store it, and reuse it again. This whole process is called Power Factor Optimization.

Q: What About Power Miser™ For Power Surge Protection?

A: Power Miser™ also protects your entire home or business against power surges, so you no longer need numerous surge protectors. The Power Miser™ provides a broad range of protection for hard wired appliances and most home electronics such as televisions, computers, satellite equipment, entertainment systems, and more. The unit protects from power line surges as well as spikes caused by internal wiring problems, loose connections and fluctuating demand from large motors in items with large motors such as appliances, vacuum cleaners, heating and cooling equipment, etc.

A: Yes, a 5-year manufacturer's warranty comes standard with Power Miser™, offering full product replacement. We warranty all Power Miser™ products against defective material and workmanship for a period of 1 year from the date of installation, and not to exceed 18 months from the date of factory shipment. A: No, if anything, your motors will run about 10% cooler, which is good for a motor because heat is the enemy of any motor.

Q: How much can I expect to save per month by using the Power Miser™?

A: That depends on many factors, such as the size of your building, the amount of inductive motor load and the amount you are paying per kilowatt-hour for electricity, etc. Generally speaking, users of Power Miser™ have seen up to 25% in reduced consumption, but the average savings is somewhere between 18% to 22%.

A: The Power Miser™ generally pays for itself within 6-18 months, and depends on the same factors as mentioned previously.
